A Run With Confidence

Today I start 2 things, both healthy, one for my mind & one for my body.

  1. I’m starting a study on The Confident Woman by Joyce Meyer, which also includes her companion book, How To Succeed at Being Yourself.
  2. And I start training for a 10k run to be held here in my hometown, New Bern, NC October 16th.

I didn’t set out to do these 2 together.  I just happened to find Joyce Meyer’s books at Good Will a few weeks ago and decided a couple of days ago to get started on them. Then over the weekend I learned of the Bridge Run, which got me very excited because I’ve always wanted to walk across the bridges ever since they were constructed and I learned about the run in time to get prepared without torturing myself.

The run is the Neuse River Bridge Run, and with 108 days until it starts, I’d better get cracking on my training.  I have 15 weeks to go from couch potato to rocking a 10k “walk”.  No running for me, not after back surgery last November, but I can walk.  I’m not sure I’ll be able to finish the full course with the permanent nerve damage I was left with after surgery, but just participating in part of it will be a HUGE confidence builder so I’m very excited to get started.  Plus, where else can I go to walk this beautiful course during my favorite time of year??

I didn’t realize until this morning the symbiotic effect the study and training will have on my life.  God’s timing is perfect.  He knows how much I need both a mental and physical boost so I’m taking the opportunity and quite literally running with it!  My hope when I am finished is to be a better person, both inside and out.  I’ll be winner whether I finish the run or not!

Hebrews 12:1 …let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us.

I’ll post my progress here so you can follow along, and maybe, just maybe, get inspired to do something you once thought impossible too.  How’s that for confidence?!

I’ll also post my study notes from The Confident Woman.  I’d love to hear from you so please add to the study through your comments.  For today, you’ll find the seven secrets of a confident woman listed in the side bar (on the right).  Join me, as together we become more confident and healthy!
